What is Zoom AI Companion?
Zoom AI Companion is an AI-powered assistant within Zoom that helps with meetings and communications. It can summarize meetings with automatic note-taking, answer questions in real-time during and after meetings, and assist with tasks like composing emails or messages.
đź’ˇ Note: Users should not use AI when meeting contains PII, FERPA, or HIPAA protected information.
How to Enable/Disable Zoom AI in your meeting?
To enable or disable the AI Companion Panel in Zoom Workplace for your own use:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Settings.
- Click the AI Companion tab.
- Under General, click the AI Companion panel in Zoom Workplace toggle to enable or disable it.

Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level and needs to be changed at that level.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.

As a meeting participant, how do I know if Zoom AI Companion is turned on?
When Zoom AI Companion is turned on, an icon displays at the top of the meeting window showing that it is active.
An a star icon like the one shown below will be flashing in the Zoom window.

SMCCCD Zoom also displays a disclaimer to all meeting participants whenever AI is turned on during the meeting.
